Two types of restorative justice practices were used as interventions:

1. Proactive Circles: Held in the morning, before classes, during 'advisory'. In advisories, the same 20-25 students take part in academic checks and SEL curriculum.

Here is a link to the Google slides presentation used to lead a training for teachers on how to implement proactive circles. A PDF is also linked below.

2. Restorative Conversations: Used after a conflict to repair relationships, these can be held in three ways:

  • Held between a staff member and student, particularly after a student is referred to the office by a teacher
  • Between students, facilitated by a staff member or social worker
  • Between staff and student, facilitated by a social worker
