Welcome! This portfolio is a compilation of my work as a Master of Social Work student.
Erin Scheer, MSW Student
University of Missouri, School of Social Work
The focus of my coursework in the MSW program is Policy, Planning, and Administration. I have had a variety of experiences that have sparked my interest in working to change existing social structures and advocating for large-scale change. This type of practice is essential in aiding clients and something I am extremely passionate about. I have also gained experience in more direct work throughout my time in the program, specifically with children. The information I have learned, along with experience in field placements, has inspired me to pursue the field of child welfare. I am confident that I have obtained the skills needed to serve children and families throughout my career.
The work in this portfolio exemplifies a variety of macro-level social work skills, as well as other micro-level skills. It showcases my knowledge, professionalism, and an ability to apply my skills to various positions. This work also shows my proficiency in the social work competencies. On the navigation pane to the left, you can easily access my professional resume, as well as completed work. These pages contain documents that exhibit my skills in advancing social justice, analyzing policy, completing evaluative research, proposing an agency, and engagement with the legislative process. You will also find my philosophy statement that details what the profession of social work means to me, as well as where I hope my future leads.
As a social worker, I have a personal mission of creating change that makes a difference in someone's life. The skills that I have learned, practiced, and expanded on throughout the MSW program have shown me that this mission can become a reality. I am passionate about my work and am eager to continue to grow as a practicing social worker.
