Having missed so many chances to help and connecting students and families with resources that could have changed circumstances was disheartening because social workers are able to connect students and families with resources.

In the social work profession, networking is extremely important to maintaining professional relationships.

A position was created as a result of my field instructor advocating to her boss the need she saw and the advantages I would gain by applying. After the practicum ended, I don't think the opportunity would have presented itself without that connection.
