2. What is the Thermohaline Circulation and how has it differed in the past?

Thermohaline circulation when water in the polar regions gets very cold and forming ice. When this happens the water in the surrounding area would get saltier due to the water freezing and the salt that is left behind and it is more dense and sinking which would pull more water into the area and this process continues to make more ice and the saltier would would sink again.
