For competency 1, social workers must apply the NASW Code of Ethics, relevant laws and regulations, models for ethical decision-making, ethical research, and additional codes of ethics as appropriate to context to make ethical decisions. In my practicum at Lion House, I take on the role of a case manager. I have demonstrated ethical and professional behavior by always responding in a respectful and ethical manner. It is important to choose what is right, even if it does not seem like the best choice at the time. As I demonstrated my knowledge of competency 1 in all aspects of my practicum experience, I demonstrated professionalism in behavior, appearance, oral, written, and electronic communication with ethical and professional behavior by staying calm while in crises. In addition, I demonstrate my ability to use reflection and self-regulation to manage my values and maintain professionalism in practice situations by answering questions honestly and respectfully from clients and staff. I maintain confidentiality when sharing information. I provided a written confidentiality agreement as shown below.

Making decisions based on what is correct even though it may not be the most favored decision. And always remaining professional in all areas of practicum experience.
