In competency 3, social workers should be able to apply their understanding of social, economic, and environmental justice to advocate for human rights. Working with clients to open active bank accounts is an example of practicing social, economic, and environmental justice. Providing residents with a step-by-step process to becoming independent is the aim of the youth house. The ability to open a bank account and learn how to use it is crucial to living independently in the community, and I consider this the best example of how I attempted to apply competency 3 during my practicum. I do acknowledge that at my practicum I was limited in what I could do to get tackle competency 3 and with knowing this I will continue to find ways to accomplish growing my experience in competency 3 in future employments.
