As part of my practicum experience, I assisted in the implementation of a suicide prevention program for students in grades 5-12. Students in Missouri are required to receive education on suicide prevention and awareness.  After receiving results from the Signs of Suicide (SOS) assessment, I have followed up with students identified from the suicide prevention program and assessed their social emotional learning (SEL).

  1. What behaviors do you use to move your interventions increasingly toward quality evidence-based service provision?

Communication, engagement, and data collection are behaviors I use to move interventions toward quality evidence-based service provision.

  1. When you are feeling uncertain about an intervention, what do you do to stay focused on quality client outcomes? Provide example.

With my client, I review goals to determine if any adjustments need to be made or if new goals need to be added, then I discuss my concern or uncertainties with my field instructor to determine if the intervention currently being used is effective or could be adjusted.
